Eastern Virginia Healthcare Coalition

The Eastern Virginia Healthcare Coalition (EVHC) core members and partners collaborate to strengthen regional healthcare emergency preparedness and resiliency.

EVHC endeavors to develop and promote the emergency preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery capabilities of local healthcare entities by: strengthening community medical resiliency; surge capacity and capabilities; building relationships and partnerships; developing emergency preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery capability guidelines; facilitating communication, information and resource sharing; maximizing utilization of existing resources; coordinating training, drills, and exercises; and supporting the Regional Healthcare Coordinating Centers (RHCC).

Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical Response System

The Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical Response System (HRMMRS) is a collaboration including emergency management, fire departments, emergency medical services agencies, public health departments, hospitals and other healthcare organizations, and community partners from the 17 Hampton Roads jurisdictions, working together to provide emergency medical care for our community before, during and after an incident or disaster.

Quarterly Training Education Experience

TEMS sponsors Quarterly Training Education Experiences (QTEE) several times a year to provide advanced training at NO COST to participants. All EMS Providers are invited to attend – there are no prerequisites and Continuing Education Credits are provided.

Regional EMS Awards

Do you know a provider, organization or program that should be recognized for its excellence, dedication and contribution to Virginia’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system? If so, plan to use the online form to submit a nomination in Spring 2024.

Each Regional EMS Council holds a regional awards program and seeks nominees for 12 categories and one scholarship. The nomination process usually opens at the beginning of the year. The Office of EMS and the Regional Councils promote the program and post the deadlines. It’s an easy process and a great opportunity to Recognize Excellence in EMS!

Tidewater Healthcare Expo

Tidewater Healthcare Expo serves the ever-expanding mobile healthcare professional community by providing an unparalleled conference experience comprised of education, networking, and interactive engagement.

Virginia-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team

Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMATs) are part of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) within the federal Department of Health and Human Services. DMATs provide high-quality rapid-response medical care when public health and medical emergencies overwhelm state, local, tribal, or territorial resources. In the aftermath of natural and technological disasters, acts of terrorism, and during disease outbreaks, DMAT members are on location protecting health and saving lives.

Whole Blood Initiative

As an organization with regional scope and a network of connections, TEMS was uniquely situated to pursue bringing Whole Blood delivered by EMS to the region. The process of delivering whole blood to trauma patients BEFORE they arrive at a hospital began with TEMS taking the lead on research and building partnerships to supply the program and develop protocols.
