Caring for patients with disabilities and special needs can be challenging call that is often a low occurrence. Learning the background as to how our patient's brain works and how information is processed provides an avenue to compassionate care. This presentation gives a background into the sensory system as well as different types of disabilities.

After working in a variety of settings, to include in-patient hospital care, the emergency department, interfacility transport, and 911 agencies, I have begun a passion for EMS Education. I am currently in the process of earning the certification of Education Coordinator, as well. After over four years as an EMT, I have recently gained my Paramedic certification in January of 2024 and am currently working in a 911 agency.
