The TEMS STEMI Committee is responsible for the effective identification, analysis and correction of prehospital and inter-hospital care provided to patients diagnosed with ST-elevation MI or new onset of Left Bundle Branch Block. The committee links EMS data and hospital STEMI data for a comprehensive view focused on process improvement and retrospective systemic analysis. This requires an objective review by qualified, appropriate representatives of EMS, STEMI and hospital programs within the TEMS Region, protected by a process which ensures patient confidentiality. The Committee is responsible for the TEMS Regional ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction Plan and works with the Virginia Heart Attack Coalition (VHAC) to coordinate cardiac care education and training consistently throughout the region.
