The Tidewater EMS Council Board of Directors approved an exciting new grant program to help EMS providers attend national EMS conferences. The program will pay registration, travel and hotel costs for selected individuals who are affiliated with EMS agencies in the Tidewater region. The first grants are now available and are targeted for the EMS World Expo in Las Vegas, September 8-12, 2013. Those interested in obtaining a grant should apply no later than July 17.
The grant program was created to provide opportunities for those who might not normally attend national EMS conferences and also to encourage those who are funded to bring back information and share it within the region.
The first round of grants will fund two attendees for the EMS World Expo September 8-12 in Las Vegas. Grantees will be required to attend the Mobile Integrated Healthcare Summit included in the Expo on September 11. The concept of community paramedicine is developing around the country and within the Tidewater EMS region. The TEMS Council is specifically interested in the grantees bringing back the latest and relevant information on this topic to share with EMS agencies throughout Tidewater. Part of the application asks applicants to describe how they would share the information.
"Information gained and shared will help us all," said board member and Norfolk Fire Chief Jeff Wise.
Applications for this initial round of grants are due no later than Wednesday July 17 and funding decisions are expected by August 1.
While the grant will fund registration, travel and lodging costs, the grantees are responsible for their own meals and other incidental expenses. Other restrictions apply. Click here for a complete description of this grant program and application instructions:
