National Scope of Practice Updated - The administration of narcotic antagonists, application of tourniquets, and use of wound packing have been added to the Emergency Medical Responder and Emergency Medical Technician licensure levels in the National EMS Scope of Practice Model. The changes are available on www.EMS.gov. This emergent update comes in the midst of a two-year collaboration between the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of EMS and the National Association of EMS Officials (NASEMSO) to revise the National EMS Scope of Practice Model.
EMS Day on the Hill is April 11 - State representation at Hill Day on April 11, 2018, is very important to ensure that members of Congress representing a state will be visited by those EMS constituents attending Hill Day. Every member of Congress must be visited to ensure that every Representative and Senator understands the emergent, urgent and preventive patient care EMS provides to all in need every day.
